“He never hides away”- Manchester United defender leaps huge praise on Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire in action during a Nations League match.

Harry Maguire has been on the receiving end for quite some time now, he has been the main center of all the stick and hate the fans bestowed both in the club and national colors. Last night England played Germany at the Wembley stadium in the final group game of the ongoing Nations League and England has been relegated to Group B considering their bad performance in this year’s tournament.

Maguire has had a miserable run of form in recent times finding himself dropped by Erik ten Hag after the 4-0 defeat against Brentford way back in August. He barely starts for Manchester United now but Gareth Southgate still considers him as a regular starter for his team and last night the decision again backfired towards him as Maguire had a bad match yet again having conceded a penalty as well.

What did Luke Shaw have to say about his Manchester United teammate Harry Maguire?

Luke Shaw has stood beside his teammate Harry Maguire praising him for his strong character. He said, “Harry is an amazing player, an amazing character. He’s taken a lot of stick, probably more than I’ve ever seen before in football. He never hides away, he’s always there. You can have people who can hide away and not want to be in the spotlight.”

He added, “He keeps putting himself in the spotlight, it shows the strength and character he’s got. Everybody knows he’s an unbelievable player. At the moment the confidence might not be there because it could feel like the whole world is against him. It’s tough for him, but we as players and staff are all behind him because he’s a very important player.”
