‘He will be the best’ Tennis Champion claims Novak to remain the dominant force inspite of Nadal and Federer’s presence
Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer
Daniela Hantuchova is a whopping 20-time WTA title holder. The now-retired Slovak, rose in the ranks at the same time as the Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal or more commonly known as ‘The Big 3.’ She recently placed Novak ahead of his greatest rivals in the GOAT debate.
While Djokovic has 17 Grand Slam titles to his name, Federer and Nadal have 20 apiece. Even though Novak is slightly trailing behind ‘Fedal’ in this category, he stands to be the youngest of the 3. Further, he has already laid claim to many records, one of which is the Career Golden Masters. Till date, he is the only player in history to ever win all the 9 Masters 1000 titles.
Moreover, if the Serbian remains atop in the rankings as he is right now, he will break Federer’s record. The Swiss Maestro has an astounding tally of 310 weeks and Djokovic might catch up to this in March 2021 and become the player to remain as the World No.1 for most weeks.
Citing these inferences, Djokovic’s abilities can’t be brushed aside at any cost. Daniela is another one who seems bewitched by the Serb’s utter brilliance on-court.
“Novak can be around for a very long time” says Daniela
On her podcast, Hantuchova weighed in, by extension, on the GOAT debate. She stated that she believes that Djokovic will be at the top for the next half of the decade. The Slovak tennis commentator was in awe of the tennis that Djokovic has produced over the course of years.
Hantuchova has also remained quite close with Novak’s camp. Futher, she vehemently believes that there is still a lot more to come from the Serbian champ.
“Given Novak’s willpower and fitness, he can be around for a very long time,” she said.
Moreover, she added, “I feel he has so much left in his game. He is so strong physically and mentally. I would say (he’ll be at the top for) at least four or five years. Perhaps it’s really about whether it still fulfils him.”
Djokovic is en route to end this year as the World No.1 for the 6th time. Also, he’s the only other player apart from Andrey Rublev to lay claim to more than 3 titles in this shortened season.
