“Heat owns the League” NBA Twitter reacts as Jimmy Butler and Miami Heat set a new record
Jimmy Butler
The Jimmy Butler-led Miami heat entered the court on Tuesday with the intention of overcoming the heartbreaking loss against the Brooklyn Nets. They did that by setting a new record in the NBA and winning a thriller against the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder. The heat now have 22-20 record and sit 8th in the Western Conference. As for the OKC they have slipped to the 13th position with an 18-23 record and it is safe to say that their playoff hopes are over.
On Tuesday, the Miami Heat established an NBA record for most free throws made without a miss, and it required each and every one of them. The Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 112-111 by shooting an amazing 40 of 40 free throws while playing at home. With 12.9 seconds left and a two-point deficit, Jimmy Butler made another free throw to shatter the record in a spectacular manner.
Butler converted one final free shot to secure the victory and the record after matching the score at 111-111. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a standout player for the Thunder, missed what would have been the game-winning shot to end it. The Utah Jazz held the previous record, making 39 free throws without missing one on December 7, 1982. Funny enough, the Jazz dropped the game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Butler made 23 of 23 free throws in a 35-point performance, accounting for the majority of the Heat’s free throw attempts. Along with his 6-of-17 field goal percentage, he added seven rebounds, four assists, four steals, and three blocks. Here’s how Twitter reacted to the game

Altercation between player and coach in the Jimmy Butler-led Miami
Who could forget Jimmy Butler and Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra’s on-court fight from the previous season? The two-time NBA champion coach’s appearance as if he wanted to fight his star player in that situation shocked the entire NBA. For Heat fans, the images from Tuesday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder may bring back memories of that dramatic time.
Dewayne Dedmon, a seasoned Miami player, was ultimately dismissed from the contest for throwing a massage pistol into the court. The 33-year-old had earlier been observed having an argument with coach Spoelstra in front of the bench.
Although it’s unknown what the two were talking about, it is undeniable that they weren’t exactly friendly to one another. The conversation evidently enraged Dedmon in particular. He became so frustrated that he made the decision to toss a massage pistol onto the playing field. Dedmon was immediately dismissed from the match by the referees, and he may possibly receive a fine for his actions.
