It’s no secret that former NFL quarterback Tom Brady has been putting all his power into approving his proposal to become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. However, his attempts were futile because of the NFL owners until very recently, Mark Davis offered him a significant discount below the market value.
As much as it brings the legendary quarterback a ray of hope, he seems to have gotten certain restrictions that he has to abide by, in order to, own a stake in the Raiders. Since Davis’ news hit the internet and Brady has made his debut in broadcasting, the NFL owners have expressed displeasure arguing he shouldn’t have the same access as other analysts to the teams.
Starting with restricting the Fox Sports broadcaster to attend the broadcast production meetings neither online nor in-office. He would also not be allowed to attend any practice drills at a team’s facility, which is usually allowed to the commentators.
The league confirmed to ESPN that among the restrictions, Brady would not be permitted to be in another team's facility, would not be permitted to witness practice, and would not be permitted to attend broadcast production meetings, either in-person or virtually.ESPN’s Seth Wickersham reported
Most importantly, the seven-time Super Bowl champion will not be allowed to publicly criticize any other team or game officials while calling the game in the coming 2024 season. It’s very common for broadcasters in the league to have privileges to numerous facilities across the league but since Brady would also be a part owner of an NFL team, he would ultimately have to choose.
Tom Brady aims for calm aggressive commentary
With the 2024 regular season just around the corner, Brady is all set to call his first game in the opening week between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns. But before that, he has certain plans as he revealed in a conversation with Stephen A. Smith, saying he wants to control his temper sitting in the booth.
During his NFL career, Brady had the reputation of being quite tough to his teammates on the field but when he enters the broadcasting booth, he wants to act composed and demure like a successful analyst and not bring his reputation of being short-tempered with him.
The most challenging thing is when I see something and I think, ‘Oh, that was horrible,’ but I just can’t say that on TV.Tom Brady told Stephen A. Smith
The reason why Brady has been keeping this in mind is that he understands that parents and other family members of the players would also be watching the games. He does not want to be unnecessarily harsh and critical, without knowing what exactly went wrong in the play.
