Colby Covington does not think he is too old to win a championship belt. Chaos used the example of former UFC champion, Daniel Cormier when asked if he was too old to be in the UFC. Covington is still eyeing the welterweight title belt. Here is what he said about being a 36-year-old fighter in the UFC.
Colby Covington recently sat down for a conversation with The Hodgetwins on the Twins Pod. During their discussion, one of the hosts asked if thirty-six was not old for a fighter in the UFC. Covington disagreed and said:
My friend Daniel Cormier, he fought till he was 42 he’s still fighting in World title fights so. You know, he was a world champion at 41 so. There’s a lot of guys that if you take good care of your body, and you eat healthy you can fight till your 40s.

Cormier was the same age as Covington when he became light-heavyweight champion. Three years later he became the heavyweight champion. He became the second fighter in UFC history to achieve this feat. Cormier was 41 when he fought his final UFC fight in a trilogy match against Stipe Miocic. He lost the fight via unanimous decision.
Colby Covington was 30 when he won the interim welterweight championship title at UFC 225. He was later stripped of the title. Covington recently fought Leon Edwards in his third welterweight title fight but lost via unanimous decision.
Colby Covington thinks Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul is a fake fight
One thing Colby Covington is sure he will never do is make a comeback when he is in his 50s. The boxing world is going nuts over the upcoming boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. However, Covington is not happy with this matchup.
Colby Covington does not like Jake Paul and is pretty vocal about it. He also is not fond of Mike Tyson putting his legacy at stake and fighting Paul. When the hosts at the podcast asked Covington what he thought about the fight, he had something interesting to say.
It’s a fake fight. It’s a fixed fight for sure, most of Jake’s fights are all fixed….That’s not a sactioned fight, I guess it’s gonna be like an exhibition.

However, an interesting development has put Covington’s declaration out of order. Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul has officially been sanctioned as a pro-fight by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. They will fight eight two-minute rounds and will use 14-ounce boxing gloves.
