Former champ Henry Cejudo had hoped to bounce back from his dual-loss streak against Song Yadong at UFC Seattle. However, their event headliner ended in a controversial technical decision due to an eye poke to Cejudo. Consequently, that’s not where the woes stop for “Triple C”, now on a triple-fight losing skid.

Cejudo himself dreads that CEO Dana White and head litigator/CBO Hunter Campbell might not have liked him ‘chickening’ out of a main event built around him. On top of that, he took a whole five minutes out and asked referee Jason Herzog to deduct points for the poke.

However, the UFC Seattle headliner couldn’t continue when the rounds commenced. The eye poke was so severe that Cejudo opted out and got booed for it. Now, UFC flyweight Cody Durden launches a scathing take on it all.

Something seems fishy but the competitor I see in him says otherwise. The momentum was shifting favorably. What do you think?

Durden isn’t the first one to do so. Many have billed that the momentum was shifting before the mid-Round 3 eye-poke, and Cejudo tried gaming it in his favor. There’s a thought that perhaps he considered Yadong would have a point deducted and he could tread ahead on the judges’ scorecards. Hence, when he asked for the time, he was actually considering options.

Brave and bold MMA ‘Bad Guy’ Chael Sonnen has said something similar recently, claiming that Cejudo didn’t want to walk through fire and wanted a way out. In an attempt to erase the sting of another loss, the former double-division champ has been trying everything. He has kept talks of a rematch going and tried three different Instagram posts. Cejudo has pleaded with White for it. He has even talked at length about his eye injury too, to gravitate toward its seriousness.

Henry Cejudo is frustrated about his eye injury most of all and that Yadong didn’t face a deduction for it. Saturday’s UFC Seattle event headliner at Climate Pledge Arena saw him lose by UD scores of 29-28, 29-28, 30-27. Cejudo did get some support from industry veterans and standouts despite his alleged roundabout gamesmanship. But all in all, it has not been a favorable week for him.

“Triple C” paid a visit to the Seattle Rain City hospital right after the main event. Cejudo could receive some nearly six months out on clinical suspension for the perceptive ocular filter due to diplopia. During his recent co-hosting duties on the “Pound 4 Pound with Kamaru & Henry” podcast, Cejudo laid out some worrying symptoms about it:

I’m still seeing double. Even as I’m watching the fight right now on the screen, my eye is still not good…I saw the ophthalmologist today, dude, and this is what she said: She said if that pinky would have hit you in the pupil, you would be blind, dude, …I have a dent in my eye, dude — It freaking ruptured. I don’t know the exact term, but it’s damaged.

The 38-year-old said the financial burden, post-fight, is also why he wants to run it again. Per the Team Fight Ready fighter, it cost $150,000 for the upkeep of his eyes the last few days. However, UFC brass has shut down any active interest in such a rematch for now.
