UFC Seattle’s main event bout between Henry Cejudo and Song Yadong turned out to be a massive disappointment. The fight was filled with various controversial moments with the Chinese national taking the win via technical decision. While there was a narrative about both fighters running it back, UFC CEO Dana White has some other plans.
Due to the controversial nature of the fight and the crowd’s booing, Yadong suggested that he would fight Henry Cejudo again. ‘Triple C’, who couldn’t see from his left eye also seconded the idea. When asked about the rematch in the post-fight presser, Dana White simply rejected it without skipping a beat.
Not at all, not even a little bit. I just don’t want to see it again…you want to see it again? We should probably do it in a couple of months? No.

In the third round of the fight, Cejudo got his eye poked, and took a five-minute gap to recover. ‘Triple C’ demanded controversial referee Jason Herzog for a point deduction for Yadong, but it was shut down. After that, the former UFC double champion was observed complaining about his eyesight to his team.

Before the start of the fourth round, the referee asked the octagon doctor to take a look, who declared Cejudo unfit for the fight. Despite that, the fight was not declared a no-contest and Yadong was announced as the winner due to the lead with points. It seems like White didn’t enjoy the fight and doesn’t think the fans would like to see it again.
‘GOAT’ wants Henry Cejudo to retire after UFC Seattle
Henry Cejudo‘s relationship with UFC and fans severed back in 2020 when he announced his premature retirement. While the fighter cited personal reasons, many fans suggested a publicity stunt by the American fighter to negotiate a better deal. White was not a fan of it and made it complicated for Cejudo to come back.

After UFC Seattle, White refrained himself from saying anything against Cejudo during the presser. However, he made sure to suggest that most fighters continue despite getting eye-poked, unlike the former champion. Cejudo’s former rival, the legendary Demetrious Johnson also shared his reaction to the fight and made his suggestion clear.
Would I like to see Henry Cejudo retire? Yeah, I think so. He has beaten me. Flyweight champion, Bantamweight champion…that’s more than half of the motherf**** roster ever gonna do.

Irrespective of the injury, many fans want Cejudo to retire from fighting before further ruining his legacy. It was the American fighter’s third loss in a row after his humiliating defeats against Aljamain Sterling and Merab Dvalishvili. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see what the legend decides for his future.
