With a win-loss record of 31-1 for the year, Top Seed Novak Djokovic stands strong totally in form with all his grit, aceing his record-breaking 36th Masters 1000 title at the Italian Open on Monday.

However, the World No.1 has been having quite a year with his off-court happenings. The most terrifying being his disqualification from the US Open 2020 during the round of 16 as he accidentally hit a ball on the lineswoman’s throat. Others in the list include, the Adria Tour where he along with his wife and coach contracted the virus, the PTPA formation and most recently the verbal feud with the chair umpire at the Rome Masters semis.

Remarking and affirming on Djokovic’s unusual post-victory speech of not being at his best performance in Rome, he stated, “He said it, it hasn’t been his best week. I think the key for all great players is finding ways to win even when it’s not your best week. And that’s what Novak Djokovic did, we saw it today. Coming back from 3-0 in the first set, a double break down.”

Djokovic was not very impressive through the Italian Open 2020. Moreover, he got into frequent arguments with the umpires, supposedly the remnants of the appalling default.

Despite all the off-court fiasco, Paul pointed the Serb’s outstanding on-court zeal as well as presented views on his scuffles through the week.

“He continues to amaze. His game is so efficient, and he knows how to manage it. The only thing that would worry me is his frame of mind, more than anything, because he seems pretty irritable,” Annacone said. “If I were him or his team, I would say take a couple of days off from tennis. Just relax a bit and get away with it. Just recharge,” he added.

The World No. 1 is presently in for a few days of rest, post which he heads towards the French Open 2020 at Roland Garros from 27th September.
