Following a rocky start, India made a statement at the Junior Hockey World Cup last they beat Canada in their second game by a 12-goal difference. As the nation celebrated the win, PR Sreejesh came up with a heartfelt message for Canadian goalkeeper, Daniel Goodwin who conceded 13 goals in the game.

Vice-captain Sanjay and Araijeet Singh Hundal found the net thrice as defending champions India bounced back strongly to demolish Canada 13-1 in their second game of the tournament. Uttam Singh, Shardanand Tiwai, skipper Vivek Sagar Prasad, Maninder Singh and Abhishek Lakra were the other young guns barring the hattrick heroes who found their names on the scoresheet.

India’s Olympic medallist goalkeeper PR Sreejesh came out to extend his support to the Canadian goalkeeper who had a night to forget in front of the goalpost. Sreejesh asserted that he knows how Goodwin must be feeling having conceded over a dozen goals in a single encounter. The veteran shot stopper adds that goalkeeping in hockey is a different ball game altogether.

Yes we won ….. But can anybody feel what this Canadian GK is going through ?? Yes, I can… It’s tough. Goalkeeping is a different game playing on a hockey field,” Sreejesh wrote.

Matcday two in Bhubaneswar turned into a goalfest with 70 goals being scored in the five Junior World Cup matches that were played. Argentina started the riot with a 14-0 win over Egypt to register the biggest victory record in the history of the tournament only for Spain to better it. The European giants thumped USA 17-0 to claim the record.

Barring India’s 13-1 drubbing of Canada, Netherlands too put up a stunning show as they crushed South Korea 12-5 in the second game of the day. The only game of the day which didn’t cross the 10 goal mark was the encounter between France and Poland. The French came out victorious as they netted seven goals while the Polosh managed just one.
