Despite Rafael Nadal being dubbed the ‘King of Clay’, he was recently snubbed for Boris Becker’s tweener during the ATP players’ reaction to ‘Best-Ever Plays in Monte Carlo’ video. The likes of Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and Holger Rune, who have experienced the best of Nadal, lauded Becker’s tweener while putting down Nadal’s two remarkable shots.
The Monte Carlo organizers put up a compilation to relive the best shots ever in the tournament’s history, Collaborating with Top ATP players such as Djokovic, Rune, Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Taylor Fritz, as they watched shots on a pad and reacted to them. The matches were Pablo Carreno-Busta vs. Fabio Fognini, Diego Gimeno-Traver vs. Pablo Cuevas, Diego Schwartzman vs. Rafael Nadal, Boris Becker vs. Sergi Bruguera, and Novak Djokovic vs. Rafael Nadal.
However, out of the five best shots, two stood out for the players. Becker’s tweener against Sergi Brugera and Nadal’s forehand close to the net against Djokovic. When asked which shot won the best in the tournament, Rune, Djokovic, Fritz, and Medvedev sided with Becker’s tweener.
“I’m probably between Boris or Rafa but I will go for the tweener from Boris Becker.” – Holger Rune
"I would say Boris Becker against Bruguera. Oh my God! I haven't seen that shot before. I've seen probably all the Becker's points, not this. Becker wins it." - Novak Djokovic“I still have to go with the Becker’s tweener. It’s the craziest shot.” – Taylor Fritz
“Becker, just because of the shot before through the corridor and then Becker still goes down the line with the tweener. So, yeah, it’s unbelievable.” – Daniil Medvedev

Rafael Nadal sends hopeful message to fans as he trains in Barcelona
Rafael Nadal is hopeful for a swift return after withdrawing from the Monte Carlo Masters weeks ago. The Spaniard wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he is training at Barcelona and making maximum efforts to compete again.
These are very difficult moments for me, sporting wise. Even if I am working hard and making the maximum effort every day with all the will to play and compete again at tournaments that have been very important for me, the truth is that I can’t play today. You have no idea how hard this is for me to not be able to play these events.Rafael Nadal explained
Nadal has an impressive 66-4 record in Barcelona, where the main court is named after him. He won his first trophy there in 2005 and most recently in 2021.
In 2024, Nadal’s only tournament was in January at the ATP 250 in Brisbane, where he made it to the quarter-finals. Hopefully, he can compete either in the Madrid or the Barcelona Open before heading for the French Open, which starts on May 26.
