MMA Legend Chael Sonnen has finally given his pick on his Youtube channel for the UFC 270 headliner, a title unification bout between undisputed UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and interim-UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane. For the record, Gane and Ngannou were teammates from MMA Factory, France until Ngannou changed his gym to Xtreme Couture, USA because of Ngannou’s back and forth with his former coach, who will be cornering Gane come this Saturday, Fernand Lopez.
The fight between both the fighters has one of the most intriguing storylines in UFC history, however, the fight is more intimidating when it comes to style matchup as well. For fans and pros of the sport of MMA around the world, this fight is a contest between what reigns supreme in the fight game, the precision from Gane or the power of Ngannou. Gane is a very technical striker, whereas Ngannou is a one-punch knockout artist.

In a 12 plus minute video, Sonnen revealed his winner’s pick right away at the beginning of his video. “My official prediction [for] Ciryl Gane vs Francis Ngannou… Francis, how do you like that? Francis Ngannou is going to win this fight and I will tell you why,” says Sonnen. “Two kickboxers… [but] there’s one huge problem, kickboxing does not favour, encourage, or work on head movement,” he continued.
“… a boxer will move so he doesn’t get a kick a kickboxer learns to stand, right in practice. In boxing, you’re learning to slip…cover…return. In kickboxing, you take both gloves and you hold them in front of your face like a fool.“
“I’m digging deep here but I am counting on Ciryl Gane not getting out of the way. Going to what he knows, doing a cage [cageside striking], Francis getting right through that and [finally, Ngannou] crushing him [Gane],“ Sonnen concluded.
