Minecraft has many items that the players can make in the game. The recipe list for items is vast and contains hundreds of items that the players can build for a variety of purposes. We discuss a item that isn’t as useful for the players directly, but is used by Minecraft Villagers.

Lectern in Minecraft
Lectern’s are a special job-site block for villagers, which can transform them into a Librarian Villager, when the conditions are met.

The Lecterns can be found naturally spawning in Villages that have a Library building in them. On rare occassions, upto two Lecterns can spawn inside one Library.
Players can pick them up from there, by mining with hand or any tool, but the most effective is the Axe, since it is made out of wood. If a book is on them, they it is dropped for the players to pick up.
How to make a Lectern in Minecraft?
Players need two base items in the game to make a working and functioning Lectern. The materials needed are:
- Wood Slabs x4
- Bookshelf x1
Wood Slabs can be made using Wooden Planks in the Crafting Table. To make a Bookshelf, players need book and wooden planks and read here to know more!
Combine the two items in the Crafting Table in the manner shown above to get a Lectern in Minecraft.
What is the Lectern used for?
The Lectern in Minecraft has a variety of uses that the players may not known about. These are:
- The Lectern is used as the job-site block to turn normal villagers into a Librarian Villagers. they do not keep books or use in in anyway, but one Lectern is necessary for a Librarian villager.
- Villagers with professions, can also change them, if they are placed near a Lectern.
- Players can also put a Book and Quill or a written book on it, to read. This can be used in the multiplayer mode so that many players can read at once. The book can be retrieved by clicking on the Lectern.
- The Lecterns are also known to emit a strong Redstone signal when the players flip a book. the Redstone pulse can be recorded by the Redstone comparator.
- When used under a note-block, they produce a Bass sound.
(Facts: A Lectern cannot hold an Enchanted Book or normal books.)
