Petra Kvitova has made a very mixed start to the 2021 season. Kvitova lost in the Round of 16 at the Yarra Valley Classic, went out in the 2nd round of the 2021 Australian Open, won the Qatar Total Open and then had to retire hurt in her 2nd round game at the Dubai Open.

The Czech star who is also a former World No.2, had a 1st round bye and then a straight sets (6-0, 6-4) victory in the 2nd Round to set up her tie with Konta.

Johanna Konta is yet to taste success in the 2021 season, losing in the early rounds at all of her previous tournaments that she has played in 2021. Similar to her opponent of Saturday, Konta comes into the match with a 1st round bye and a straight-sets (6-4, 7-5) victory in the 2nd Round.

Coming into this tie, Kvitova will be high on confidence given her better record in 2021, also two of her victories against Konta have come on the hard courts, similar to the one at the WTA Miami Open 2021. Kvitova was also seen dominant in her 2nd round victory winning the first set 6-0.

Konta will have to play tough on the court when she faces Kvitova, as her track record is not good on hard surfaces which was evident in her previous match where she won the second set at 7-5.
