When Caitlin Clark first stepped foot inside the Indiana Fever facilities, one of the first people to welcome her was Pacers’ star Tyrese Haliburton. Since then, they have developed a bond and have become close friends along with their partners.

They go on double dates and appear courtside supporting each other whenever one or the other plays. During the Pacers’ stellar playoff run, Clark’s presence at their home games was seen as a lucky charm.

She could not be a part of the final few playoff games as her season with the Fever had already begun. Then, she and the rest of Indianapolis saw their NBA title hopes get thrown out the window after Haliburton tore his Achilles tendon.

The Pacers saw their stellar run come to an end in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, and the point guard had to undergo surgery and recovery. Around this time, Caitlin Clark was also nursing a groin injury, and she recalled how their interactions were in those days.

I’m at the hyperbaric chamber, and I’m in one tube, and Tyrese is in the tube next to me… I mean, he loves basketball.. I was on a plane flying back, and he’s like, yeah, I’m already re-watching it, I’ll text you what I think. And I’m like, bro, that’s how you know how bored he is.

This means the two are sharing intel whenever the other was playing. When he was out injured, Clark revealed he would send her analysis of Fever games. Since Tyrese Haliburton cannot do anything but watch basketball, she believes it is the only thing that is keeping him occupied.

Caitlin Clark and Fever round out impressive win over Dream

The Indiana Fever welcomed the Atlanta Dream in what would be the 2nd last of their home games before the All-Star break. The Dream held the head-to-head record over the past 3 games, and started similarly.

Jordin Canada‘s stellar 26-point 1st half helped the away team enter the locker room with a lead. Coming out in the 2nd half, it was the home team’s turn. They blitzed their opponents with a 59-point performance that turned the game on its head.

Caitlin Clark continued to struggle from deep, but her game-high 9 assists helped her teammates confuse the Dream and build a lead. Stellar bench contributions from Sophie Cunningham and Damiris Dantas helped the Fever win the game 99-82.

This win helps the home team tie the regular season record against the Dream. More importantly, it was the way they played in this game that should have Clark and her teammates hopeful of launching a stellar run.

Caitlin Clark loved Fever’s style of play

This game against the Atlanta Dream comes after a disappointing outing against the Golden State Valkyries. In that game, Caitlin Clark was playing off the ball. After that failed experiment, the star point guard was happy with the way they played against the Dream.

We played with really just played with great pace, moved the ball, cut hard, which opened up the 3 point line. Our defense was really good. Kind of felt like how we should get back out there and play every single game.

Caitlin Clark said to Alexa Philippou

In short, she loved the fact that the team was playing with the pace that has defined their game since she arrived last season. That pace helps the Fever outplay the best teams in the league.

Clark hopes this game gives them an impetus to start a run of wins. They are stuck at 7th in the standings and need to move up if they are to fight for home court advantage for the 1st round of the playoffs.
