I am proud of you: President Trump calls Covington after UFC Vegas 11 win
Colby Covington has been a very vocal supporter of Donald Trump over the years. President Trump called to congratulate Covington after his victory over Tryon Woodley at UFC Vegas 11.
Covington was giving his post-fight interview when he was handed over the phone call. He was told the commander in chief was on the line. “Oh, the POTUS is calling me!” Covington said, putting Trump on speakerphone.
“You are a great fighter,” Trump said on the line. “You make it look so easy. I don’t know how you do it. Congratulations, I wanted to watch that fight tonight. You were great.”

The president said he managed to wrap up his rally Saturday night in North Carolina in time to watch the bout.
“I’m proud of you. I’m a big fan and I’m proud of you,” Trump said. “You’re tough. You are something … I appreciated the shout out tonight, too. I’m your fan, you’re my fan. Two of a kind.”
“Thank you so much Mr. President. You gave me the dragon energy when you shook my hand on Sunday at your rally,” Covington replied. “It doesn’t matter if King Kong was in front of me, I was not going to lose after getting to shake your hand and be at your rally.”
Trump went on to commend Woodley during the phone call, who he called a “strong-looking guy” and a “great fighter” before adding that it seemed like “easy work” for Covington.
