“I don’t think I’m ready right now,” says Jairzinho Rozenstruik on a UFC title shot
Heavyweight striker, Jarizinho Rozenstruik has stated that he isn’t ready for the title shot as of now. The heavyweight fighter is scheduled to fight Ciryl Gane at UFC Fight Night on February 28. UFC Fight Night 186 takes place in Las Vegas with Ciryl and Jairzinho at the main event.
Rozenstruik is ranked top 5 in the heavyweight division with a record of 11-1-0. “The Bigi Boy” has lost only once in the octagon and that loss coming from the fight against the title contender, Francis Ngannou. He was knocked out by Francis in the first round within 20 seconds at UFC 249. Despite that, he has been excellent in his career as a heavyweight.
Rozenstruik will be fighting Ciryl Gane at UFC Fight Night 186. Ciryl is unbeaten in the promotion with a record of 7-0-0 and is ranked #7 in the division. Ciryl will be looking to take his spot in the top 5 after the fight with Rozenstruik.
Despite being in the top five, Jairzinho seems like he doesn’t want the title shot. “For me, it doesn’t matter,” Rozenstruik told reporters, on Wednesday at UFC Fight Night 186 media day. “I want to win, and I’m looking for a quick turnaround. I want to fight more before I fight for a title, so Jon Jones can go first.”
“I’m a fighter who likes to be busy,” says Jairzinho stating he wants to fight more
Rozenstruik is coming off a TKO win against Junior dos Santos last August at UFC 252. The fighter admitted that his knockout against Ngannou hurt him but he’s back now. And talking about the title challenge he said, “I want to be ready for the title fight, and I don’t think I’m ready right now.”
“Why I’m saying that? I want to get going, I want to be in the washing machine, be in the octagon, get that feeling – especially after last year, it was a really bad year for all of us, “ the heavyweight striker told the media. He also said he wants to keep his form going and keep fighting.
“I can speak for a lot of fighters, too. I’m a fighter who likes to be busy – three or four fights a year. I had two fights (last year) because of the pandemic, so it took a little longer to get back in the octagon.” Do you think it is smart on Rozenstruik’s behalf to not go for the title now?
