“I know he’s predictable, only has one punch, almost like Ngannou but without his reach”- Blaydes on his upcoming bout with Derrick Lewis

UFC heavyweight contender, Curtis Blaydes, known for his expert wrestling, grappling and deadly ground and pound; believes he has the upper hand in his bout with Derrick Lewis at UFC Vegas 15.
In an interview with Combate, Blaydes explains why he feels that he is the superior mixed martial artist. While he acknowledges Lewis to be a dangerous striker, he feels that his opponent is one-dimensional having only his punch to rely on. He goes on to compare him to the division’s top contender, by calling him a lesser version of Francis Ngannou.
“I hope to win. I hope I can secure my takedowns. I hope I can land some hard elbows. I expected it to be hard, but I expect to win.”
I have many paths to victory, he only has a specific one: Blaydes

Blaydes, often criticized for his wrestling-oriented style, justifies his actions in the octagon by saying that it’s better to score a safe win rather than have an all-out bloody brawl. “If you do that, if you chase that finish, you set yourself up to make mistakes. That’s how you lose. Even if it’s a very boring fight, I don’t lose my position, as long as I win.”
Curtis Blaydes is currently on a four-fight win streak with victories over Justin Willis, Shamil Abdurakhimov, Junior dos Santos, and Alexander Volkov. Blaydes will face off against Lewis at UFC Vegas 15, on Nov.28 at the UFC Apex, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Do you think Lewis’ striking skills will be enough to defend against Blaydes’ wrestling and grappling?
