NASCAR will hit the 2-mile oval track Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California for the Wise Power 400. The race is going to be one of the most significant races in 2022 as teams and drivers will get a first glimpse of how the Next-Gen car is going to perform in the future races as the track shares resemblance to the number of tracks the Cup series is scheduled to race this season.

Kyle Busch, the two times cup series champion has been historically dominated the Auto Club Speedway as he has won four races in Fontana with the recent win coming in 2019 making him the only active driver to have won in the track more than once.

Kyle Busch, who missed out on the Daytona 500 after he crashed out of the race, has now shared his excitement in racing again in Fontana after a 2-year break.

Kyle Busch acknowledged that he loves to go to California as he finds the track more suited to drivers and a one that aged well over time. Kyle Busch went on to shares his optimism that the Next-Gen cars will allow drivers to move freely and race hard in a track that has recently made drivers run up around the wall in the turns.

I love going out to California. It’s a driver’s track, and it’s aged over time … You can run all over it. Typically, recently you run up around the wall in the turns, but you can still move around a bit. I hope the Next-Gen car will also allow us to move around and be pretty racy,” says Kyle Busch.

The track will host the qualifying session on Saturday to determine Sunday’s poles for the 36 cars that have entered the race. The qualifying will be of two rounds where the cars will be separated into two groups according to their performance metrics and the first round will feature a knockout single-lap qualifying session. The top 5 cars from each group will compete for the Wise Power 400 pole in Round 2.
