‘I really want to compete with high-level guys’ Khabib Nurmagomedov is unsure of his retirement
The UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the greatest UFC fighters with an unbeatable record of 28-0. He is going to face Justin Gaethje for the title unification fight at UFC 254 and if he wins this fight this will make his record to 29-0 and he will go for an unprecedented 30-0.
But there has been a lot of talk lately about ‘The Eagle’s’ retirement. Khabib did hint that he can hang his boots when his record will reach 30-0, but the champ is still unsure about it. Speaking in an interview with BT Sports Khabib says
“I don’t know why people talk about my retirement. Maybe you guys are tired of me? A lot of media ask me about my retirement. But I want to compete. I like the competition. I really want to compete with high-level guys. That’s why I’m here. All my life, I am doing this”.
Khabib is uncertain about his future at UFC and after his father no longer standing in his corner, he is not sure what more is left for him in the Octagon.
What’s next for Khabib?
While most of the people are asking about ‘The Eagle’s’ retirement but this guy is still in his prime and he is still dominant over his every opponent. Khabib is still not thinking about what lies for him after facing Justin Gaethje but a fight with George St-Pierre is something that runs chills down the spines of everyone.
It all depends on whether Khabib will win the fight against Justin or not but he is a hot favorite in this fight and ‘The Highlight’ has to perform exceptionally well to overcome the champ’s challenge.
30-0 is the dream that Khabib’s father Late Abdulmanap wanted him to achieve. Even if he retires after this there are a lot of top contenders that are ready to take his place.
