The undisputed UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson has been rivals for almost five years. UFC tried to book a fight between them many times, at least six times to be precise but as they say, it is the most cursed fight of UFC, they never got a chance to face each other.

Tony Ferguson is currently on a two-fight losing streak and Khabib almost retired from MMA makes this fight never seem to happen again. Despite all these both of them never miss a chance to take a jab at each other.

Though many fans thought that Ferguson can be the kryptonite for ‘The Eagle’ but the champ doesn’t think so. Talking to the Russian Heavyweight fighter Magomed Ismailov, Khabib says,

“Maybe that would be Tony Ferguson, but I swear that I never considered him as an elite lightweight, He was very good, but I never counted him so, because it’s impossible to be an elite at 37 years.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov also pointed out Ferguson’s winning streak

‘The Eagle’ and ‘El Cucuy’

‘El Cucuy’ holds the record 12 consecutive wins in the Lightweight division but Khabib believes his record isn’t that impressive because he didn’t fight against good fighters.

Khabib added, “It’s never been before and Khabib cannot do this. At 37 years in the lightweight division, no way, but heavyweights can. It’s my opinion and you cannot change it.”

“Secondly, since 2016 he fought Kevin Lee, Edson Barboza, Anthony Pettis, and Donald Cerrone and these four fighters have 20 losses for these four years. It means that since 2016 he didn’t fight good fighters.”

“But now, he faced young and top fighters, I mean Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje. They outclassed him, you saw this. Both fighters just dominated Tony. I was just dreaming about this fight. But it wasn’t destined, we had injuries in a row.”
