“I want a minimum half-year break,” says Light Heavyweight champ, Jan Blachowicz

Jan Blachowicz

The UFC light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz recently defended his title for the first time in his UFC career. The Polish managed to defend his title successfully. On March 6th, Jan went up against current UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya.
At the main event of UFC 259, the polish powerhouse handed the “Last Stylebender” his first ever loss. Blachowicz won the fight by unanimous decision. While fans are waiting to see Jan in the octagon very soon, Jan has other plans.
Light Heavyweight champion wants to take at least a six-month break before he returns to the Octagon to defend his title for the second time. Jan revealed his plans about the future in the post-fight presser at UFC 259.
“(I want a) short break – minimum half-year break,” Blachowicz said during the post-fight presser. “I want to spend some time with my family. I am a father. My child was just born and I don’t spend any time with him because I have to prepare for my fight. If he wants to wait, (Teixeira) will be my next opponent.”
Jan Blachowicz will defend his title against Glover Teixeira next

While a lot of fans were keen to know who the next fighter will be to collide with Jan, the Polish revealed it in the post-fight conference. Jan told to Joe Rogan that he wants to fight the Brazilian, Glover Teixeira.
Teixeira will have to wait for almost a year if he plans to get his hands on the light heavyweight title. But the Brazilian hasn’t competed in the UFC since November 2020. His last bout was against Thiago Santos at UFC Vegas 19.
The real question is if the “Rocket” will wait for his title shot or go ahead and try and get a few wins in his bag.
