“I would never write him off,” former coach backs Andy Murray to have a successful 2021 season
Andy Murray
Daniel Vallverdu, former coach of Andy Murray stated that one should never write off Andy Murray and he still can play at the highest level. Andy Murray did not have a great 2020 season and suffered disappointing losses at the US Open, and the French Open to name a few. Ever since his return from a career-threatening hip injury, he has been a pale version of himself. Vallverdu coached Murray from 2010-2014, during the period which the Brit won two Grandslam titles.
Vallverdu believes that Murray the fans are lucky to witness him compete at the professional level and it is quite a challenge to come back from a career threatening injury. “It’s pretty amazing what he’s doing, coming back from the type of injury that he’s had,” Vallverdu told Reuters. “We’re all very lucky to still be able to have him around and not only in the locker room but to see him compete.”
If Murray stays fit, he can have a good 2021 season: Vallverdu
Daniel Vallverdu stated that if Andy Murray is fit for the next season, and not necessarily pain free, he would have a good 2021 season. “As long as he’s able to keep himself fit and I wouldn’t say pain-free but with not so much pain and physically fit, I wouldn’t be surprised if Andy has some very good results next year,” he said.
“What they’re going to be is difficult to say but I do believe that he if he manages to keep his body fit, he will be competitive against the top guys and in the big events as well. I would never write him off,” added the former coach of the Brit.
Andy Murray had already stated earlier that he will make a strong comeback in the 2021 season and is hopeful of better results. The Brit’s last Grandslam title came way back in 2016 when he won the Wimbledon Championships.
