The 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup has been an ecstatic affair so far, with the tournament nearing its final stages at the moment. With the group stage set to end on October 26, the top four teams on the standings will battle it out for the coveted title in the semi-finals, starting October 29.

Hosts India booked its berth in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s World Cup with a convincing victory over New Zealand, in its sixth group-stage encounter at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The Women in Blue had found themselves in jeopardy after having lost three straight group stage matches to South Africa, Australia and England, despite having had a good start to the tournament early on.

Apart from India, defending champions Australia, England and South Africa are the three other teams to have made it through to the semi-finals. Australia became the first team to qualify, having enjoyed a near-perfect record with five wins out of their six opening matches. South Africa currently holds the second spot with five wins from six matches, while England is ranked third, with four wins out of six matches.

India, with three wins and three defeats out of six matches, remains fourth in the standings. The team secured a spot in the semi-finals with a 53-run victory over the Kiwis, with Smriti Mandhana being named Player of the Match for scoring 122 runs off 134 balls.

Schedule

With Pakistan out of the knock-out stages after finishing at the bottom of the 2025 Women’s World Cup standings, the schedule and hosts for the two final four encounters are confirmed. Both semi-finals will be played in India. The first semi-final is scheduled for October 29, with the match set to begin at an early time of 15:00 hours. The second semi-final will take place on October 30.

India is set to compete against the team that finished on top of the Women’s World Cup standings, with Australia and South Africa in contention potentially. The result of the Australia-South Africa game on 25 October also decides who will face England in the second semi-final, with the Three Lionesses poised to finish second or third on the table.

Venues

The first out of the two semi-finals will be played at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati, on October 29. The ACA stadium also served as the venue for the Women’s World Cup opener between co-hosts India and Sri Lanka, before going on to host three more matches in the group stages.

Meanwhile, the second semi-final will be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, on October 30. Navi Mumbai was chosen as a venue for the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup after the ICC made the decision to replace the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, citing concerns related to security. Furthermore, the DY Patil Stadium is also widely anticipated to hosts the final.
