“If it isn’t Dillashaw, it could be Dominick too, it could be anyone” Jose Aldo suggests his next possible opponents
The first UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo announced the start of a new reign in the Bantamweight division with a win over Marlon Vera. It is a huge win for Aldo as he was coming into this fight with three losses.
Chito Vera made a name for himself by defeating the undefeated bantamweight fighter Sean O’Malley and with a win over Vera; Aldo proved that he belongs to the top 10 in the Bantamweight division.
After the win, Aldo called out the former two-time UFC Bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw. In his interview with AG Fight, Aldo named the fighters that he is interested to fight after this win. Aldo says,
“I think the category has new names coming up. There’s TJ Dillashaw, Dominick Cruz, Frankie Edgar, who has a fight with Cory Sandhagen. If it isn’t Dillashaw, it could be Dominick too, it could be anyone”
“We have to be busy, to draw attention to our category. Or even Henry Cejudo himself, if he comes back, we are willing to make this fight,”
Jose Aldo is happy to keep the Bantamweight title
Jose Aldo has defeated Frankie Edgar twice and Henry Cejudo is retired now he is eyeing the new challenges in the Bantamweight division. Dominick Cruz is booked to face Casey Kenney next; if he wins that fight he can very well face Jose Aldo in the next one.
With the UFC Bantamweight champion Petr Yan holding the title at the top of the division, Aldo is excited to come at 135. He added, “I think the category is going to be busy. “Petr Yan is a quiet kid, I know him and support him. If I can keep the title, I’m happy. But new challenges will come, there will be new athletes.”
