World No.1 Iga Swiatek did not falter a bit when she faced Jasmine Paolini in the Roland Garros final played inside the Philippe-Chatrier on Saturday (June 8). It took her an hour and eight minutes to emerge victorious for the third consecutive time with scores of 6-2, 6-1.
One can guess by seeing the scores how Swiatek received little to no competition from the Italian, who played her first major final. Swiatek took the lead in the first set and there was no going back.
The second set was no different. Swiatek was on the verge of bagging a bagel, but the World No.15 tried to fight back by winning the sixth game of the set but in vain as the Pole secured the next game and eventually match, becoming the youngest player to win four Roland Garros titles in the Open Era.
The victory made the 23-year-old the first player since Serena Williams (who achieved it in 2013) to complete a treble by winning in Madrid, Rome, and Paris. Swiatek also surpassed Williams, Monica Seles, and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario to win four titles at the Roland Garros. The Pole is just behind Chris Evert and Steffi Graf, who won seven and six titles respectively in the Open Era.

Swiatek won that match with scores of 7-6(7-1), 1-6, 7-5. It was the only time Swiatek faced some challenges because she did not break a sweat to win over other opponents, and even registered a double bagel in the fourth round.
After her final win, the Pole recalled that Osaka match thanked the crowd for encouraging her and admitted that the tournament was emotional one for her.
