The 2025 WTA season has ended. Iga Swiatek could win just three titles, one of which was her career’s first grass-court title at Wimbledon.

Swiatek scripted history by demolishing Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0. Later during the Wimbledon Champions’ Ball, she danced with the men’s winner, Jannik Sinner. The Pole recently sat for an interview with Polsat Sport, where she fondly recalled the dance, revealing how, to ease the atmosphere, she started to whisper jokes in his ear.

I think Jannik was feeling pretty relaxed for a number of reasons; I also wanted to ease the atmosphere, so I kept making little jokes in his ear. He was mostly leading, I just tried to keep up since that’s kind of how it goes in dancing, I guess. On the other hand, we both knew we didn’t want to try anything complicated. I really enjoyed it, and I hope we’ll get another chance sometime.

Sinner came for the ball late as he was celebrating with his team by drinking champagne. Recently, during his interview with Sky Sports Italy, when Sinner was asked about the dance, he called that moment “cute” and “nice”.

The four-time Grand Slam champion lifted his career’s first Wimbledon title by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in four sets. While Swiatek failed to progress to the WTA Finals semifinal, Sinner needs to win just one more match to end the men’s year-end championship in his favor. Sinner will be up against Alcaraz in the final.

Apart from Wimbledon, Swiatek took home the Cincinnati Open and the Korea Open. She also played her career’s first grass-court final at the Bad Homburg Open, but couldn’t beat Jessica Pegula.

Alex de Minaur on his matches against Jannik Sinner

Alex de Minaur once again failed to break the losing streak against Jannik Sinner. The Aussie played Sinner in the semifinal of the ATP Finals and suffered a straight-set defeat. At the press conference, de Minaur explained why he thinks it’s harder to beat the World No.1.

Look, I’m going to say that, yeah, there was a lot of good stuff in that first set. I think one of the key elements was I dropped my percentage of first serve in the crucial stages, which allowed him to jump on top of me in that 5-All game. He came up with some pretty good shots, as well. Look, I played him many, many times. Even though a lot of people may not think so, I know how to beat him. It’s just not that easy to do, right (smiling)?

De Minaur ended his season with one title. Carlos Alcaraz denied him the Rotterdam Open title, while the 26-year-old denied Alejandro Davidovich Fokina his career’s first title at the Citi Open.

In the final of the season-ending championship, Sinner will lock horns with Alcaraz for the sixth time this season, following their encounters at the Italian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, Cincinnati Open, and the US Open. In their overall head-to-head record, the 22-year-old holds a 10-5 lead.

Alcaraz has clinched the year-end No.1 ranking and won’t lose his spot if Sinner ends up defending his title. While the six-time Grand Slam champion will be playing his first final in the season-ending event, for Sinner, it’s his third consecutive final.

Back in 2023, he lost the championship clash with the tournament’s most successful player, Novak Djokovic, while last year, he defeated Taylor Fritz in the final. Both players did not lose a match in the round-robin stages, which means the winner will take home $5,071,000 as prize money. Alcaraz is bidding to win his ninth title of the season, while the 24-year-old is searching for his sixth one.
