LeBron James
Will LeBron James ever age? Perhaps not! The Los Angeles Lakers star continued his birthday celebration against the Charlotte Hornets with another 43-point game on Monday. After scoring a season-high 47 points against the Hawks, James came back and scored another 43 against the Hornets. The four-time NBA champion is taking giant steps as he moves closer to breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record.
In the 3rd quarter, with 7.43 left on the clock, coming from behind, Troy Brown Jr. deflected the ball from Terry Rozier’s hands. James picked up the loose ball and threw it to Dennis Schroder, who was running ahead of him. Schroder took one dribble, faked LaMelo Ball, and threw a low ally-oop to James. LeBron caught the ball mid-air and threw down a reverse windmill dunk to give the Lakers a massive 22 points lead.
With a 121-115 win over Charlotte, the Lakers are now within the 500 NBA record this season. In their previous meeting, the Hornets had defeated the Lakers, so perhaps the revenge couldn’t have come at a better time. It was their last road game before heading back to Los Angeles to play home games.
The Lakers and James have won back-to-back games and will host the Miami Heat on their homecourt in the Crypto.com arena. James will again look to avenge the loss that the Lakers suffered against the Heat earlier. However, the good news for the Laker fans is, despite being in the 12th spot in Western Conference, the Lakers are only 3 wins behind the 7th-seed Portland Trail Blazers.

James shot over 60 percent from the field, while he failed to make any of the 5 three-point shots that he took. In the 39 minutes that he spent on the floor, LeBron shot 16 of 26, which included flashy mid-range shots, and a high-flying reverse windmill dunk. The 4 x MVP is only 484 points behind Kareem’s 38,387 points.
It was a team win from the Lakers as 5 players scored in double digits. Dennis Schroder and Austin Reaves each scored 15 points, while Troy Brown Jr had 11 on the night. In absence of Anthony Davis, Thomas Bryant has been coming big for the Lakers every night. He scored 18 points behind LeBron James and grabbed 15 rebounds of which 5 were offensive rebounds. After the win, James said that the team wanted to end the trip on a good note. “We just had the mindset of wanting to close out this trip the right way,” James said.
