Twenty-four-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has been in full relaxation mode. The Serb recently announced his withdrawal from the Paris Masters, where he was the defending champion.

Djokovic was photographed in the Maldives, swimming and enjoying some downtime. It’s unclear whether he was there with his family or not.

His withdrawal from the Paris Masters adds to the growing list of events he’s missed since the Paris Olympics. Following his Olympic gold medal win, Djokovic has now withdrawn from three of the last four Masters 1000 tournaments.

The only exception was the Shanghai Masters, where he reached the final but lost to Jannik Sinner. He also withdrew from the Cincinnati Masters, where he was the defending champion.

Novak Djokovic could be making a huge decision in the coming days

Novak Djokovic might face a key decision soon, as he’s close to qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has withdrawn from the upcoming Paris Masters, and some reports in Serbia suggest he may not play again for the rest of 2024.

Djokovic has mentioned several times that he plans to reduce his schedule, prioritizing Grand Slam events and representing Serbia in the Davis Cup. Skipping the Paris Masters aligns with his plan to step back from regular ATP Tour events.

Currently, Djokovic ranks sixth in the ATP Race to Turin, with the top eight players earning a spot in the Finals by November 9. By not competing in Paris, he gives the players below him a chance to move up and secure their places.

Close behind Djokovic in the rankings are Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, and Alex de Minaur. However, all three missed significant opportunities this week, with Ruud losing in Basel’s first round and Rublev and De Minaur exiting in their respective quarterfinals. Grigor Dimitrov and Tommy Paul are also competing for a spot, making their performances in Paris crucial. Ruud and Paul might even face off there, while Dimitrov will open against Tomas Martin Etcheverry or Zhang Zhizhen.
