The Tokyo Paralympics are all set to begin, and India will be sending its biggest contingent yet. Out of these is a strong 7 athlete badminton squad, who is capable of winning several medals for India. Among these is Krishna Nagar, who hopes to walk away with a gold medal from the Paralympics.
Krishna Nagar is a para badminton player hailing from Rajasthan. He secured his spot at the Tokyo Paralympics by the virtue of his high world ranking. Nagar is currently ranked 2nd in the world in the SS6 (short stature).
Nagar will be looking to clinch the gold medal at the Games in which badminton will last from 24th August to 5th September. Parabadminton will be making its debut this year at the Paralympics and Nagar has said that he feels proud to be a part of the squad this year.
Krishna Nagar’s Achievements and More
While Nagar will be looking to clinch the gold medal soon, he has won 2 medals at the 2019 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships. Nagar took the bronze medal in the men’s single SS-6 category, while he took silver with his partner Raja Magotra in the doubles SS 6 category.
The ace shuttler has also won a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia in men’s singles. The 21-year-old also clinched 2 gold medals at the 2021 Dubai Para Badminton International.
Nagar has not won a gold medal yet, which is not his driving force as he makes his way to the Tokyo Paralympics. “To win the gold at Tokyo 2020 will be very special,” he said to TOI.
