India Tour of Australia: Indian cricket team leaves for Australia following conclusion of IPL

The Indian National Cricket Team left for Australia following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League. The IPL ended yesterday with the Mumbai Indians (MI) defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) to be crowned champions for a record 5th time. Just a day after the IPL final, Indian players were back to national duty and business as they left for the tour of Australia which is scheduled to begin from November 27.

All players who were a part of India’s squad stayed back in UAE even after their teams had been eliminated from the IPL. Now that the IPL was done, the squad then assembled in UAE in order to travel along with strict COVID-19 protocols to Australia.

‘Team India is back’ – BCCI

The official Twitter handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted pictures of the Indian Cricket Team leaving from the UAE to Australia on their Twitter handle and captioned it, “Team India is back. Let’s embrace the new normal

The tour will start with the ODIs. The first two ODIs on November 27 and 29 are set to be played at the SCG, the third ODI on December 1 and the first T20I on December 4 will take place at Canberra’s Manuka Oval, before the teams return to Sydney for the final two T20Is at the SCG on December 6 and 8.

A pink-ball Test is scheduled to be held at Adelaide Oval between December 17-21, with Adelaide also the backup option for the Boxing Day Test if the COVID-19 situation makes it difficult to conduct the game at the MCG. Otherwise Melbourne will be the venue for Boxing Day (December 26-30) followed by Tests in Sydney (January 7-11) and finally, Brisbane (January 15-19).
