Rohit sharma

Indian batsman Rohit Sharma who missed the limited-overs leg of the tour of Australia as well as the first two Tests has finally joined the Indian squad in Melbourne and will be available for selection in the next two Tests. The saga surrounding Rohit Sharma’s fitness and availability was a hot topic ahead of the tour of Australia with the reason for his unavailability unclear as to whether it was due to fitness issues or personal reasons.
Rohit had been training in the National Cricket Academy in Mumbai when the white-ball leg of the tour was on before receiving clearance to travel to Australia and join the Indian camp after a 14-day quarantine in Sydney. With the Test series now square at 1-1, Rohit Sharma is likely to be picked for the third and fourth Tests and the 33-year-old will look to make an immediate impact.
Rohit Sharma welcomed by Indian teammates
Rohit Sharma traveled from Sydney after his 14-day quarantine to Melbourne to join the Indian squad at their team hotel. On his arrival, he was greeted by his teammates and the coaching staff who gave him a warm and joyous welcome. The BCCI took to Twitter to share a video of the same captioning it, “Look who’s joined the squad in Melbourne. A warm welcome for @ImRo45 as he joins the team.” Head coach Ravi Shastri is seen in the video asking Rohit, “How was quarantine my friend? You’re looking young.“
The third Test between India and Australia is scheduled to be held in Sydney from January 7 onwards. It will be interesting to see who Rohit Sharma replaces in the playing XI for the third Test if he gets picked. As of now, the likely candidates seem to be Mayank Agarwal or Hanuma Vihari who might make way.
