India vs England 2021: Jofra Archer might not feature in T20I series due to an elbow injury
Jofra Archer
With the test series between India and England having come to an end, all the focus will now be on the 5-match T20I series that is set to begin on March 12. All matches will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and there will only be a gap of one match between each fixture. The stage is thus, set for the foray into limited-overs cricket ahead of a busy schedule coming up for the Indian players.
In the test series, a lot of talk surrounded England’s rotation policy and the various changes that they made to their line-up. The pace attack was shuffled around quite a lot and it did not work exactly according to plan. One change that was not part of the rotation policy was that of star pacer Jofra Archer who was ruled out of the series after the first test due to an elbow injury that has been troubling him for quite some time.
Chris Silverwood addresses Jofra Archer’s injury
England’s head coach Chris Silverwood addressed reporters after the conclusion of the test series against India through a virtual conference and talked of Jofra Archer’s injury. “Jofra’s elbow did flare up a little bit and the medical staff are managing that at the moment. Obviously we’ll monitor his progress. He’s trained today with the white-ball squad. I’ll be guided by the medics. We’ll see where we end up with him. I want Jofra to be fit for all forms of cricket. I want him to have a long, successful Test career”.
Jofra Archer is among the most important T20 bowlers for England due to his ability to both keep things tight and pick up wickets. His ability to come up with lusty blows with the bat is an added bonus as well. Archer will be a part of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise in this year’s IPL and the franchise might be worried a bit about his fitness.
