The third Test of the ongoing Test series between England was a pink-ball Test. While a thrilling encounter was expected between the star-studded sides, the game lasted only two days. Such a result has now sparked a controversy over the pitch used. Many fans and former players are of the view that the pitch was ‘poor’. On the other hand, the Indian captain Virat Kohli rated it ‘very good’ blaming poor batting for the result.

The pitches have been under intense scrutiny ever since the first Test, which England won. The pitch for the last two Tests has been rank turners and it has divided the cricketing fraternity. While many have hailed the pitches as “unplayable”, others labeled them as a part of the game. As we go into the fourth Test, it seemed like the storm has finally subsided over the pitches.

But the former England captain Michael Vaughan has fuelled it again with a hilarious post on Instagram. Taking a dig at the pitches for the last two Tests, Vaughan posted a photo while batting on dug-up soil. He captioned the post, “Preparations going well for the 4th Test !!

While many former cricketers have spoken up about the quality of the pitches, Windies legend Vivian Richards feels that the “moaning and groaning” should stop. On the same lines, Nathan Lyon also lashed out at the critics. He questioned why green pitches aren’t criticized while spinning tracks have always been under fire.
