In Short
  • The Indian cricket team will receive a total cash prize of approximately INR 152.48 crores after winning the 2026 T20 World Cup.
  • The BCCI has awarded a bonus of INR 131 crores, supplementing the ICC's prize pool of INR 21.5 crores.
  • India became the most successful team in T20 World Cup history, securing their third title by defeating New Zealand in the final.

The Indian cricket team is slated to receive a substantial financial reward following their 2026 T20 World Cup victory, including a recently announced prize money of INR 131 crores from the BCCI. It is in addition to a sum that the team would receive from the ICC winners’ prize pool.

India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final of the 2026 T20 World Cup in Ahmedabad, becoming the most successful team in the tournament’s history with three titles.

As many as 20 teams entered with the aim of lifting the coveted trophy, before the Indian team stamped its authority with a second successive triumph.

While Jasprit Bumrah earned the POTM award in the final, Sanju Samson was named the Best Player of the Tournament for his record-breaking campaign.

Ranked the no.1 T20I team in the world, India entered the tournament as favorites, but a Super Eight defeat to South Africa dented the team’s hopes. However, the Men in Blue staged a comeback, winning against Zimbabwe, the West Indies, England, and finally New Zealand. For the efforts, Suryakumar Yadav and Co. will take home a significant cash prize, from the ICC’s total pool of INR 101 crores ($11 million).

India will receive INR 21.5 crores ($2.34 million), while runners-up New Zealand will take home INR 10.75 crores ($ 1.17 million). The BCCI has further supplemented the prize with a bonus of INR 131 crores ($14.24 million) for the victorious Indian team, which is six times the amount they will receive from the ICC’s share. This cash reward from the BCCI is an increase of almost INR 6 crores compared to the INR 125 crore bonus announced by then secretary Jay Shah for the Rohit Sharma-led team in 2024.

When combining the official ICC prize and the BCCI-awarded bonus, the total reward for the 2026 men’s T20I squad stands at around INR 152.48 crores, compared to the INR 145.42 crores received in 2024. Early reports indicate that each of the 15 players is expected to receive close to INR 6 crores from this total, with the remainder to be distributed among the coaching staff, headed by Gautam Gambhir. Devajit Saikia told reporters:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for Team India following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

All eyes are now on the Indian T20I team’s next steps, as they are anticipated to celebrate the victory with fans in an open-bus parade. While a parade took place in Mumbai after their 2024 triumph, the host city for the 2026 parade has not been announced.
