India’s star shuttler PV Sindhu trains at Jwala Gutta Academy
PV Sindhu was seen training at the Jwala Gutta Academy of Excellence which was inaugurated recently and has been providing high-class facilities. The academy is one of the most unique ones where shuttlers get the feel of training in world-class facilities. It uses special blowers and gives special attention to the drift that a shuttler faces in major tournaments.
“Sindhu got a feel of the facilities by training for a couple of hours in the morning,” an official at the Jwala Gutta Academy of Excellence told Sportstar.
Jwala and Sindhu have known each other for a long time. They were training together at the Gopichand Academy at the beginning of Sindhu’s career. Apart from Jwala, Saina Nehwal looks set to build an academy of her own in Dharamshala. The government has given the initial nod but the academy is yet to be built.
Sindhu needs to get back to form going ahead
2020 was not an ideal year for many including PV Sindhu. After winning the world championships in 2019 she could not go past the quarter-final stage even once. She had lost a lot of momentum coming into 2020. After the resumption of the new calendar, Sindhu couldn’t regain her past form. She went down poorly in both the Thailand Super 1000 series against not so tough opponents.
However, all is not lost for Sindhu. After a break of 1 month the Olympic Qualification tournament starts where she has been seeded 2nd in the Swiss masters. If she performs well she could go into the Summer Games well prepared with lots of confidence.
