Antonio Conte’s men became the second finalist after by beating Ukranian side, Shakter 5-0 on the evening.
Laurtaro Martinez open the scoring by heading home through a Nico Barella cross beyond Pyatov as Inter controlled early proceedings. Barella himself then tested Pyatov following a flick from Lukaku before Marcos Antonio almost spectacularly leveled up the scoreline. Second half was no different. Two minutes into the half, Martinez anticipated a long pass and attempted to chip from a long way out which was well saved by the 36 year old shot-stopper.
Shakter then found a way to get back into the game. The top scorer of the club, Junior Moraes met Stepanenko’s cross but it was parried by Handanovic. The Slovenian was positioned perfectly to save the effort. But that was that for Shakter as Inter grew in-confidence. Danilo D’Ambrosio nodded in from a Brozovic’s corner just after the hour mark to double the lead. Inter’s constant pressure saw Lukaku forcing a save from pyatov. Shakter felt the heat of Inter’s press in gifting Inter their third with Martinez excellently converting his second. His partner in attack then got on the scoresheet by scoring in every game of the competition. Inter’s fifth and last also came from Lukaku’s boot with the Belgian ensuring his side’s journey to Cologne to play the final.
Inter flourishing Under Conte
what a revelation he has been! The Italian giants might have found the right man to lead the club back to their glory days. With this victory, Conte is now verge of managing the club to a European title after a decade. Even though its Europa league, the silverware will reward the former Juventus boss’s impressive campaign. Under his stewardship, Nerazurri finished second in the league with this being the highest finish for them since their treble win in 2009/10 camapaign. This shows Conte is doing something special at San Siro.
Getting the best out of Lukaku
one thing that Antonio Conte has done is making Lukaku the true beast. The Belgian had a fair amount of showings at number of Premier clubs but it is in blue and black stripes, he is playing his best. The star kid from Anderlecht departed Manchester United on the back of criticism but fit right into Conte’s plan. The Italian gaffer placed faith on him and he returned it back staggeringly. Romelu Lukaku have now scored 32 goals in all competitions just three shy of matching Samuel Eto’s feet in a single campaign. Conte has done something like this in other places he had managed. Whether its Mirko Vucinic at Juve or Diego Costa at Chelsea, Conte turned them into monsters. But his relationship with Lukaku seems to add a little bit more to his antics.
His impressive system
His way of setting a team is also of high praise. The three man back-line has done wonders with each club he has managed and Inter are no different. With a five in midfield, the team has the perfect balance in attack and in defense. Such a system has honored every individual to show up their best in each game. Youngster like Nico Barella has been immaculate lining up with the experienced Brozovic while over the prime players like Ashley Young and Diego Godin looking deadly as ever. Even big money flops like Alexis Sanchez are having decent run of games. Like all other tactical setup, Conte do have some issues but having a squad to invest his philosophy on is paying out. Inter are thus having the run of their lives.
