Carmelo Anthony and Rihanna went viral in a click from 2014, however, not how one would expect. The two unknowingly graced the fans with a now viral meme from the Met Gala. More than a decade later, the former New York Knicks star addressed the picture while giving some background insights.
Carmelo Anthony sat down to share some stories in a segment of his podcast, 7PM in Brooklyn. In the installment released on Thursday, it was The Kid Mero who brought up the extremely circulated picture, asking the story behind the picture.
Former NBA player Rudy Gay, who was also in the podcast, added that he had never seen Anthony look like that. The former NBA star shared that it was after the Met when celebrities were coming in bringing flashes with them as he was joined by his wife. Per Anthony’s claims, he aimed to avoid the cameras, however, as he looked up Rihanna was right there posing.
Unfortunately for Camelo Anthony, the cameras papped him the moment he looked up and the rest is history. The 10-time All-Star proceeded to reenact the look he gave in the iconic picture. Back then, the users named the expression “risk it all” and it sure lived true to its name. However, supposedly he had contacted ‘RiRi’ right after to clarify the misunderstandings, if any.

As for the fans though, they do not buy Carmelo Anthony’s story. The users claim they know for the expression really was. Much like in 2014, the internet became a row of people poking fun at the former Knicks star this time around as well.
Social media reacts to Carmelo Anthony’s story justifying Rihanna meme
Carmelo Anthony’s attempt to keep a low profile did not work then and it did not work now. It sure has a spot in the list of top 10 memes of all time.
The social media users have the interview in a chokehold, with their guesses in hand. Here are some of the reactions:

In the decade since the picture had originally been taken, Carmelo Anthony has gained several ‘aura’ points for his expression. The crux of the matter is, that the former basketball forward insists that the picture was not intended far by a mile. Nonetheless, for those looking at it in no text might let it speak for itself.
