Kendrick Lamar brings out Los Angeles natives NBA superstars Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan to dance to Drake diss track
Rapper Kendrick Lamar and Amazon teamed up to hold a concert in Inglewood, California. This concert was an effort by the Grammy Award-winning artist to bring all of California together. The sellout concert was held on Juneteenth and had the who’s who of celebrities. Most notable were Los Angeles natives and NBA superstars Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan, who danced to a Drake diss song.
After belting out a few of his hit singles, Kendrick Lamar closed the show with his latest hit solo, Not Like Us. The song, which is a direct diss track aimed at rapper Drake, was the hit of the show. This led the audience to ask Lamar to play it again. That is when Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan took to the stage and danced along as Lamar continued to diss Drake.
This song was the last of the diss songs aimed at the Canadian rapper after their beef took center stage recently. The rapper went on to sing the song five times in a row. It just proved that California really took to the song and wanted to hear it again and again.
The NBA superstars dancing together with Kendrick Lamar shows that they also enjoyed every bit of the beef. DeMar DeRozan, though, was part of the Toronto Raptors during the early stages of his career. Nevertheless, there was no love lost for DeRozan as his loyalties lie elsewhere.
DeMar DeRozan loyal to Kendrick Lamar and LA
For the first nine seasons of his career, DeMar DeRozan was the leading superstar of the Toronto Raptors. Naturally, as Drake is one of the biggest supporters of the franchise, it was natural for the two stars to meet. However, dancing and singing to the song Not Like Us means the 6-time All-Star is joining in to diss Drake after he was forced to leave Toronto.
DeRozan has mentioned in the past that playing for a team in Los Angeles would be something he would like to do. Nevertheless, he is staying true to his roots here. A proud Compton native, the superstar showed his allegiance in this scenario. This will surely sting Drake as a few years back; he mentioned DeRozan in his hit song Lemon Pepper Freestyle.
The diss is firmly in Kendrick Lamar’s corner as he brought together the biggest names of California in this show. It included those who were once well-versed in Drake’s acquaintance. As such, one could only wonder if Drake comes up with a response in typical Drake fashion.
