Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has once again become a topic of discussion on social media. CSK defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 20 runs on Tuesday. After the game, fans took to twitter to react on the incident that happened in the penultimate over of SRH innings.
MS Dhoni brought Shradul Thakur to bowl the 19th over. Rashid Khan was on strike and SRH required 24 runs off 11 balls. On the second ball of the over, Thakur bowled a wide first and then again bowled a delivery close to the tramline.
The ball was clearly outside the tramline and umpire Paul Reiffel has stretched his arms to call that ball a wide but he looked towards Dhoni (who was furious as the previous ball was given as wide) and changed his mind.
David Warner reacts angrily to Umpire’s decision
The next moment, Paul withdrew his decision from calling that delivery a wide. Soon after the incident, the cameras were turned to SRH skipper David Warner (who was sitting in the dugout). Warner react angrily to the umpire’s decision and had stretched his hands questioning the decision the umpire was made.
The Warner-led side finished at 147/8 in the allotted 20 overs and CSK won the match by 20 runs. Meanwhile, fans have expressed their dissatisfaction at what happened in that over. Some of them saying that former India captain bullied the umpire.
“So-called legend bullying umpire like always. Ban this franchise forever IMO doesn’t deserve to play at all’, was a reaction by a fan on Twitter.
“That was not cricket from MS Dhoni, you can’t put pressure on the umpire like that and also umpire should have gone with his decision. Dhoni is not bigger than the game of cricket. Last yr he came from outside to force the umpire to give it no-ball, now forced to not give it a wide’, was the angry reaction of another fan.
