The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced Adam Zampa as the new member in their side for this tournament. The Australian leg-spinner came in as a replacement for countryman Kane Richardson, who earlier pulled out from the 13th edition of IPL.
Richardson and his wife are expecting the birth of their first child. As a result, the Australian speedster withdrew his name from IPL 2020.
The official social media handles of the Bengaluru-based franchise revealed this news with a post to the public. The social media post came up with a picture of Adam Zampa, donning the new RCB jersey.

Mike Hesson’s reaction

In an official statement, Mike Hesson mentioned that the team would surely miss the services of Kane Richardson in this year’s IPL. But the addition of Adam Zampa will provide them with a great opportunity, especially keeping the UAE conditions in mind.
“We are disappointed to not have Kane’s skills with us this IPL, as he was certainly on top of his game. However, once we found out Kane and Nyki’s baby was due during the IPL, it was exciting news for us. We are fully supportive of Kane wanting to be at the birth of their first child.
“When looking at our squad for the UAE conditions, we felt it was an opportunity to bring in another quality leg spinner in Adam Zampa. It helps us provide cover for Chahal and also gives us extra options if conditions suit spin as expected during the tournament,” he added.
