Mumbai Indians (MI) continued their good run in Dream11 IPL 2020 with a 9 wicket victory over Delhi Capitals (DC). This win guarantees a top-two spot in the tournament for MI. DC on the other hand have suffered a fourth successive loss of the tournament and are to still qualify for the playoffs.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and allowed DC to open the batting at the Dubai International Stadium. DC batting lineup failed to perform in a crucial juncture and could add only 110 runs at the end of 20 overs. Mumbai took advantage of the poor start by DC and Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah helped MI with 3 wickets each.

Ishan Kishan was awarded the Man of the Match for his 72 runs innings

Chasing a low target, Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock started well for MI and added a fifty run partnership for the opening pair. De Kock was dismissed by Anrich Nortje for 26 runs in 28 balls. Kishan however kept going and played shots to every DC bowler including Kagiso Rabada. He went on to make 72 runs for with 3 sixes and 8 fours. Kishan and Suryakumar completed MI’s run-chase in the 15th over itself with 9 wickets.

Delhi batsman batting first were reduced to 15/2 in the third over after a brilliant bowling display from Trent Boult. Shikhar Dhawan scored his second duck in a row after he was caught by Suryakumar in just two balls. Prithvi Shaw was given a place in the DC lineup but he also lost his wicket in the second over of Boult.

Jasprit Bumrah came on after the powerplay and took the wickets of Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoinis in a single over. He also picked Harshal Patel’s wicket to finish with bowling figures of 4-0-17-3. With these three wickets he equalled the wickets tally of Kagiso Rabada of 23 wickets and became the purple cap holder with a better economy than Rabada.

DC kept losing wickets regularly as no batsman could score more than 25 runs with Shreyas Iyer top scoring for DC. With a wonderful bowling effort from Bumrah and Boult, MI reduced DC for just 110/9 in 20 overs.

With only 5 games to go in Dream11 IPL 2020, only Mumbai Indians are the only team qualified in the playoffs of the tournament. MI lead the points table with 18 points in 13 games and have lost the fewest games in the tournament. DC on the other hand are in the third position with 14 points in 13 games of IPL 2020. They will play their must-win game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday.
