IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals players undergo COVID-19 testing in Mumbai

Delhi Capitals players undergo Coronavirus tests.

The players of Delhi Capitals underwent Coronavirus tests on Saturday before leaving for UAE for the IPL 2020.

The rule allows players with negative COVID-19 test to depart for the UAE. Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and others have already reached UAE. Remaining teams to reach are are Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab.

Players will undergo 7-day quarantine in UAE

The BCCI already called franchise that the players will undergo seven day isolation period after reaching to UAE. The board has asked players to strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedure and stay in bio-secure bubble.

As per the SOPs, the players have to undergo RT PCR tests on Day 1, 3, 6 of the isolation phase.

Shane Watson now under quarantine for seven days

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Shane Watson earlier reached Dubai and is now under quarantine for seven days.

Watson took to Twitter and shares a video in which he talked about how he will be spending time in quarantine for the next seven days.

“My 7-Day room bound quarantine here in Dubai has just started. It’s so cool to be here to get into the preparation for another exciting season of @IPL for @ChennaiIPL. #SafetyFirst #WhistlePodu #superexcited,.” he tweeted.

The former Australian all-rounder is the first player from the CSK squad to reach Dubai for the upcoming edition of the IPL. 

The UAE will host 60 IPL games over 53 days. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are the venues decided for the IPL. The opening match of the season will be played on September 19.

This season, both the afternoon and evening matches will be played half an hour earlier than ordinary.

The final match is planned to be played on a weekday, for the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League.
