IPL 2020: ‘Don’t take opinions of people’ – Mohammed Siraj reveals MS Dhoni’s advice
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been on a roll in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). They are currently sitting pretty on the points table at the 3rd spot with 7 wins from 10 games. However, they have a game in hand and if they win it they will go top of the table.
Their batting order has come together and so has their oft criticized bowling attack. In young Devdutt Padikkal, they’ve found a reliable opener. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have been their assured, explosive selves. Their bowling attack has clicked as a unit led by spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar.
Their pace attack did come under scrutiny in the beginning of the season. However, they’ve come back extremely well to hold their own against strong batting attacks. RCB’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was testament to this as they restricted the Men in Purple to 84/8. The wrecker-in-chief was Mohammed Siraj who created history by bowling two maidens in the match and returned figures of 3/8.
‘When you have a bad match, they will say you are not good enough’
Following his excellent showing against KKR, plaudits and praise have been following Mohammed Siraj. The pacer revealed a key piece of advice he received from former Indian captain MS Dhoni in an interview with RCB. He said, “Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni) always says to not take the opinion of others seriously. If you have one bad game they will tell you, you are not good enough.”
“If you keep thinking about those you will go mad. Rather you think that the next match if you do well, the same set of people will start praising you and call you a good bowler,” he added.
Siraj’s RCB take on Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) today in Dubai.
