Mumbai Indians clinched yet another Indian Premier League (IPL) title after beating Delhi Capitals in the final of the 13th season. MI comfortably chased down the target of 157 runs, set by the Capitals. IPL 2020 title was also the fifth tournament victory for their skipper Rohit Sharma while leading the side.

With this glory for Rohit Sharma, the debate of him getting the captaincy of the national team in the shortest format began once again. Cricket fans and experts from all over, backed him to become the next T20I captain of the Indian cricket team. In this, one of the most prominent voices came from the former England captain Michael Vaughan. The Englishman said that India would be a better T20 side under the captaincy of Sharma

Vaughan tweeted: “Without question, Rohit Sharma should be the Indian T20 captain .. fantastic man-manager & leader .. & he knows exactly how to win T20 games .. it would also give Virat a chance to take a breather and just be the player .. it works for all other teams around the world ..#IPL2020”

Rohit Sharma is a brilliant captain: Irfan Pathan

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also hailed the captaincy skills of the 33-year during the tournament final against Delhi Capitals.

Pathan took to the microblogging site and wrote: “One would think there is so much happening with fast bowlers bowling with the new ball, 4th over will go to another quick but this guy @ImRo45 is a brilliant captain… #IPLfinal”

Rohit Sharma will now feature in the upcoming Test series against Australia in Down Under. Surprisingly, he has been rested for the limited-overs series (three ODIs and three T20Is) against the Aussies.
