Rabada said that nerves are always there wherever he plays and he was lucky that it worked out for him.  He added that he tried to use the extra pace and bounce in the wicket and tried to mix the lengths during bowling.

There will always be nerves no matter how long I play when things get tight. Lucky that it came off today. It just depends what’s working for me on the day and some days you just get a feel for what might work and today I was mixing the lengths up and really glad it worked,” Rabada said after the match.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it won’t. Decent bounce on this wicket and the boundaries are quite big and I did back myself with extra pace and bounce. I just stuck my hand out and it stuck (Jordan’s catch). I think the ball before he (Iyer) moved me there and it was just a reaction thing.” he added.

Lots of learning to take from the first game: KL Rahul

Delhi Capitals vs Kings XI Punjab

Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer was pleased with the side’s first win of IPL 2020. He praised Marcus Stoinis and Kagiso Rabada for their match-winning performances in the game. “It was difficult to see the game turning in different directions. We are used to this. Even last season we faced these. KG (Rabada) is the winning performer, and the way Stoinis batted was game-changing,” Iyer said

However Kings XI skipper KL Rahul said it was a bittersweet moment to end up losing the match in the Super over. He affirmed that the first game of IPL 2020 was a learning lesson for the team. “It is bittersweet. If at the end of 10 overs, if you had said this match is going to a Super over, I would have taken it. It’s still our first game, so lots of learning.”

“He (Mayank) was unbelievable and to get a game that close was magical. He’s been doing well in Tests and to get the game that close again brings a lot of confidence in the group.”

Kings XI Punjab play Royal Challenger Bangalore in their next match on Thursday.
