The 13th season of the IPL has been a bright one for the young Indian players. It has been a season where the aspiring cricketers have clearly outplayed the senior pros. And the president of Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly is over the moon with the results. He went on to name six youngsters who particularly caught his eye during the T20 carnival.

Ganguly named Mumbai IndiansSuryakumar Yadav, Rajasthan RoyalsSanju Samson, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rahul Tripathi, Varun Chakravarthy, and Shubman Gill and Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Devdutt Padikkal as the rising stars on the horizon of Indian cricket. Samson and Chakravarthy even received T20 call ups for the Australia tour on the back their impressive IPL 2020 campaign. Tripathy and Gill were impressive at the top of the KKR order with the latter showing a glimpse of his consistency on the big stage.

On the other hand, Padikkal has been on a different level throughout the season and is RCB’s top scorer this season. The lanky opener has amassed 472 runs so far in his debut season to script a league record. And has been exceptionally consistent at the top of the order.

But among all, the player who has impressed Ganguly the most is Suryakumar. There has been a huge uproar in the cricketing circle over his omission from the Australia tour. And the former India skipper finally broke his silence over the matter. Ganguly shares that Yadav’s maiden India call up is around the corne as he praised Suryakumar’s unbelievable consistency in the IPL.

He is a very good player. His time will come.” said Ganguly in an interview with Hindustan Times.

Surya has already amassed 410 runs in 14 matches this season. Yadav finished IPL 2018 with 512 runs in 14 games while getting 424 runs in 16 games last season. Yadav’s 5326 first-class runs in 77 games speaks volumes about his prowess in the top order.

India coach Ravi Shastri had earlier quipped that it is difficult to break into the Indian side which is packed with skill and experience. Shastri had also asked the 31-year-old to be patient as he hinted that he would break into the side soon.
