It is always a treat to watch AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli bat together in the middle and such has been their dominance that an IPL skipper has asked to ban them. This strange request comes from Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul during an instagram interaction with his RCB counterpart.
The duo has been the backbone of the side ever since they come together and this season has been no different. Its their sheer brilliance that RCB now stands 3rd in the points table this season with 5 wins from their first 7 games.
ABD and Kohli complete 3000 runs together
The duo of de Villiers and Kohli put on a stellar show at Sharjah in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders as RCB went on to seal a 82 run win. The duo’s 100 run stand in just 46 balls also saw them complete 3000 runs together. The century stand was the 10th time for duo in the league, a record in its own.
During a live chat with Kohli on Wednesday, Rahul jokingly said that the duo must be banned from the league after they cross 5000 runs. The comment came as a hilarious reply when asked to suggest a change of rules in the IPL.
“To start off, I think I would ask IPL to ban you and AB for next year. Once you have achieved a certain amount of runs, I think, the people should say ‘it’s enough’. Once you get 5000 runs it’s enough, now you guys let the others do the work,” KL Rahul said.
Rahul’s side KXIP is in a tough spot with just 2 wins so far and need atleast 6 wins from their remaining 7 games to keep their qualification hopes alive. And they kick off this Herculean task against an in form RCB side today at Sharjah. Although their chances of qualifying look slick but Rahul and his men might not have given up yet.
