IPL 2020: Incredible how Dhoni, Fleming trust their players, says Shane Watson
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) back to winning ways as they defeated Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 10 wickets in game 18 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. CSK opening batsman Shane Watson lauded captain MS Dhoni and coach Stephen Fleming for backing their players in the team.
Opening for CSK in the 179-run chase, Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis played unbeaten knocks of 83 and 87 runs respectively. Watson hit three sixes and 11 fours in his innings while Plessis smashed one six but retained a better strike rate. His unbeaten 181-run stand with Faf du Plessis managed CSK chase down 179 with 14 balls to spare.

About Dhoni and Fleming, Watson said that the duo shows faith in the players even when the things don’t go right in the team’s favour.
“What Fleming and MS Dhoni do, it is incredible. They trust the players and trust the quality and calibre of their players. They know if they keep the faith, the things will certainly change,” Watson was quoted as saying to Faf in a video uploaded on IPLT20.com, reported by Business World.
CSK were failed to give a good start ahead of IPL 2020 so far, but after their 10 wicket win in Dubai, the Yellow Army moved to sixth position in the IPL standings with four points from five matches. Watson was happy that the side got back to winning track after losing three matches on the trots.
“It was nice to spend some time with my good mate Faf in the middle and amazing how a little change in mindset can make a big difference in getting things moving. It was nice to get some winning momentum. The faith that CSK continues to show in their players goes a long way. I love batting with Faf, I do believe that we complement each other really well,” he added.
Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis had an incredible outing as well. The former South African skipper scored 87 runs off 53 balls with 11 fours and one six. In IPL 2020, so far, he has 228 runs to his name with an average and strikes rate of 94 and 150 respectively includes three fifties.
