Match no. 39 of Dream11 Indian Premier League witnessed the lowest score by a team in IPL 2020. Thanks to a brilliant fast-bowling display by Mohammad Siraj, Royal Challengers Bangalore restricted KKR for just 84 runs. RCB faced no difficulty in chasing the score and defeated KKR by 8 wickets with 39 balls to spare.

Kolkata Knight Riders winning the toss opted to bat first and could post just 84/8 in their quota of 20 overs.  The top order collapsed in the second over of the game when Siraj picked back-to-back wickets of Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana. Shubman Gill threw his wicket away in the very next over to Saini, reducing KKR to 3/3 within 3 overs.

Tom Banton was included in the team in place of injured Andre Russell, but he couldn’t grab the opportunity to display his talent and got out in the next over. Skipper Eoin Morgan alongside Dinesh Karthik tried to lead KKR forward but lost their wicket to RCB spinners. Chahal and Sundar took their wickets respectively. Tail-enders of KKR added valuable runs at the end of the innings after Kuldeep and Lockie Ferguson made 12 and 19 runs respectively.

Siraj bowls two maiden overs in the match

Mohammad Siraj was the hero for RCB’s brilliant win over KKR. Siraj picked three wickets and conceded just 8 runs in the match. Siraj also bowled two maiden overs in his four overs spell which is the very first instance in IPL history. Siraj finished his bowling for 4-2-8-3.

Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets for 15 runs while Saini and Washington Sundar picked one wicket each. Chris Morris did not pick any wicket but was economical for RCB with 4-1-16-0 bowling figures.

RCB chase down the target with 39 balls to spare

Virat Kohli and Gurkeerat Mann

RCB batting gained a good net run rate after completing the run-chase in the 14th over. They lost both the openers after a cautious partnership of 46 runs. Devdutt Padikkal made 26 in 17 balls while Aaron Finch struggled to get going.

Gurkeerat Singh Mann was promoted above Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers top to gain some playing time in the tournament. He made 21 runs with four boundaries. Virat Kohli played at number four and made 17 runs as RCB completed 85/2 in just 13.3 overs.

The massive win for RCB over KKR takes RCB to the joint-highest 14 points with 7 wins. They have lost only three games in the tournament so far. KKR are in the fourth position with five wins and an equal number of losses.
