IPL 2020: KL Rahul is India’s Mr. 360 – Sanjay Bangar
Kings XI Punjab have witnessed it all in IPL 2020. A resounding win sandwiched between a super over loss and a couple of lackluster defeats. Even with two points from the first four matches, experts refuse to write off the Kings this time. This is primarily because of their devastating opening duo of KL Rahul and Mayank Aggarwal.
Vying for the Orange Cap, the Punjab openers have been in a rich vein of form in this IPL. While both have already hit centuries in this edition, the same has not translated into victories for their side.
Being a regular in the Indian setups, both Rahul and Mayank have continued their good work from the national team to the Kings XI franchise. The duo shared a stunning 183-run partnership against the Rajasthan Royals, which was clearly a display of highest batsmanship.
Rahul’s classy batting has earned plaudits from experts and former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar too echoed similar views. Bangar has rated Rahul very highly and felt he is Indian counterpart of AB de Villiers. Speaking on Star Sports, he said, “Everyone calls AB de Villiers Mr 360, I’d like to say KL Rahul is India’s 360.”
Bangar talks about Mayank’s growth
Speaking about Rahul’s partner in crime, Bangar felt Mayank has evolved as a player who takes more responsibility as a batsman. “He’s grown as a cricketer. He now believes he can win matches and he has done that he has single-handedly taken KXIP to match-winning positions this year,” he added.
The competition for the Orange Cap is heating up as only 7 runs separate the two at the top of the table. The Kings XI would aspire their bowlers too to engage in a similar battle for Purple Cap as the tournament enters the business phase soon.
